The United States is a
large country, with terrain, climate, and habitat that varies
greatly from region to region. We've all seen those North
American birding guides ... but do you really want to sort
through descriptions of a bunch of birds that you'll never see
in your state?
The purpose behind this
site is to make it easy for you to find information about the
birds you're likely to see where you live or in an area that
you'll be visiting. You'll find bird lists, state and
regional birding guides, bird watching areas, and regional bird
watching organizations.
There are links at the
bottom on this page to a few bird identification guides that
break the country down into several regions. These are a
good start and everyone should have one of these in their
library, but the state guides you'll find on each state page
will likely provide more specific information about the birds'
ranges and habitats, as well as provide tips on the best places
to see them.
